The frustration that started it all
In 2015, I was an MBA student, and my student organization
needed a
small batch of custom t-shirts for an event the following week. I thought it would be
simple. It wasn't.
Every printer I called quoted 7 to 14 business days with no firm delivery date. Most had
high minimum orders. A few were openly rude when I asked basic questions. I visited a
handful of shops in person and left every one of them thinking the same thing: this
should
not be this hard.
So my college friend Anar Dadashov and I decided to build the company we wished had
existed.
From a rented apartment to our own warehouse
We took a basic screen printing course, bought our first equipment, and started Yes We Print out of our rented apartment. We had no investors, no inheritance, and no safety net — just an idea that custom apparel buyers deserved better.
When we outgrew the apartment, we rented a warehouse we couldn't afford to renovate. So I built it out myself. I watched YouTube DIY videos at night and spent weekends constructing our first showroom, darkroom, offices, and kitchen with my own hands. I slept at the office most nights. Anar ran operations. For the first few years, we did every job ourselves — printing, customer service, design, cleaning, deliveries. Everything.
We had one rule from day one: we would not be just another local print shop.
The innovation that changed everything: same-day printing
While competitors were quoting 7 to 14 days, we pioneered same-day screen printing for rush orders — something no one else was offering at the time. It required a different production workflow, tighter quality control, and the willingness to work nights and weekends. But it solved the exact problem I had as a frustrated student, and it became the foundation of everything we've built since.
Over the years, we expanded well beyond screen printing — adding embroidery, DTG printing, DTF, sublimation, and a full catalog of custom apparel and branded merchandise. Every dollar we earned, we reinvested. Into better equipment. Into a smarter website. Into the systems that would let us serve customers far beyond our own city. We weren't building a local shop. We were building a nationwide custom apparel and merchandise company — one order at a time.
Today, 11 years later
Yes We Print is a team of over 30 people. We produce more than 1 million garments every year for small businesses, nonprofits, schools, families, and teams at some of the largest companies in the world — including Google, Netflix, YouTube, FedEx, Nike, The New York Times, and the County of Los Angeles.
We still ship nationwide. We still produce everything in-house — no outsourcing, no middlemen. And while Anar and I no longer run day-to-day operations, we still step behind the machines from time to time — printing alongside our team, feeling what our operators feel, and understanding what they need to do their best work.
What hasn't changed since 2015 is the reason any of this started: we believe ordering custom apparel should be fast, fair, and handled by real humans who actually care.
